Battle Barge - Vance

When the original project I was hired to work on, Zero Rift, was canceled by Probably Monsters, PM created a strike force to help ship a game called Vance, which was under a different studio at PM. I was selected to be part of the strike team. This forced me to adapt to a new style quickly and adjust to a new environment. The main issues the studio wanted to address with Vance were establishing a new art target, campaign, and content scaling--in under a year!!! I created a concept (see top photo) that the team agreed would be the new art target and then led the team toward that vision. Unfortunately, PM decided to cancel the project.

To get accustomed to the new style, I did a quick paint-over of an in-game screen capture of what the player sees when they first load into the game. With notes given by leads, I created a new composition.

I designed iterations of cannons for the main concept. These all could be used for modularity, which was part of the game.

Redesigned the barges for visual targets.

Before the project was canceled, I started to work on the sky box and helped create assets for the 3d artist.
